Wednesday mid-week roundup
+ update on seeking sanctuary
I woke up today and we were at 83%. Now we are at 92% after an angel gave generously! We just need to close the gap on 8% and we will be golden! Also, I wanted to let y’all know that I have made my Venmo private out of an abundance of caution. You can still find me using my name, but I’m trying to limit folks rummaging through my Venmo and seeing who all gave. This is just a security precaution.
The political situation continues to devolve here in TN and nation-wide, it seems. I hear from folks every day who are panicked about all the policies being put in place here in TN. Today, I spoke with someone confused about a name change and what an organization is putting out. They felt intimidated by Inclusion TN and that not only frustrates me, but it also shows a larger image of what we all are experiencing right now in TN. It is not safe here. I wonder what will become of TN and those who don’t have the access or network to leave? Many people are staying to fight, but at what cost? The trauma of being terrorizing and hunted by the Extreme Right has cost me my livelihood. I no longer leave the house and the only time I am outdoors is when I go to the porch. That is no way to live, as my teacher tells me!
The POD is scheduled and we will load things up very soon and head out! I’ll be sending updates up until we leave and there may be a lapse in communication while we are in transit. But, rest assured, I will let y’all know that we are okay and safe just as soon as I am able! Again, out of an abundance of caution, I won’t be releasing my location, but rest assured, the South is in me! I will continue to fight for the rights of Southerns and continue to do my part to make a way out of no way.
I am grateful that the entire world has shown up for me! Thank you! We are about 742 dollars away from being fully funded! I don’t know when we will reach 100%, but I expect that this week we will reach that goal! Thank you for helping me make a graceful exit from the terror that I am facing. I have learned some lessons about belonging and freedom through this process (the subject of my next book)! Thank you for being my teachers!
