Dear Substack Community: This week’s political roundup is posed as a question for us all: how do we be counter hegemonic with the rise of authoritarian rule? How can we love our enemies and pray for those who wish us harm? How can we be different in the face of accelerating power structures that seek to have a toxic form of power? How can our theologies and ethics help form us into a community that is peaceful, loving, and relational?

Also, I want to mention this book to you. I’m starting this book on Sunday and want to invite y’all to join me in reading it! When we invest in rural America, we will be better people.

Dirt Road Revival: How to Rebuild Rural Politics and Why Our Future Depends On It

Onward, —Dr. Roberto Che Espinoza
