Friday Formation: The craft of storytelling
stories shape us in profound ways -- how do we create change with storytelling?
Before the sun goes down and I start my tech sabbath, I want to write about storytelling and share some of the thoughts I’ve been having around how stories shape us into the people we are. Before I do, I want to share with you that my comrade, Clinton, is heading to Cuba to do some humanitarian work and I’d love for you to support his work there. Clinton works for the Poor People’s Campaign and is heading to Cuba, again (he goes every year) to serve the Cuban people. Can you help him get there?
Are you subscribed to Our Collective Becoming? I’ll be releasing exclusive audio and video for paying subscribers. I want to focus more on the craft of writing and how we generate stories for social change. As a public scholar, I’ll be returning to my craft of thinking and the life of the mind to then share out stories that can bring heaven to earth and another possible world. I hope you’ll join the community. Several have suggested that we meet monthly on zoom, so I’ll be starting that this fall, too! Lots coming down the pike this fall. I hope you’ll join! Just $5 a month will get you all access to my writing and thinking and these new things that I’m dropping as exclusive content. No, I didn’t go to school and earn a PhD to become a content creator. I am endeavoring to create public scholarship that is accessible for the least of these, because that is growth in knowledge and wisdom. I credit my teacher, Dr. Nancy Elizabeth Bedford, for continuing to shape my thought in this regard. If you’re new here, welcome! If you’ve been around, thanks for staying and growing with me! I hope to welcome others into the fold, so that we can create ‘little moves against destructiveness.’
Onward, —Dr. Roberto Che Espinoza
