This past weekend, I was privileged to see a fellow colleague, friend, and brother, Báyò Akómoláfé. He endorsed my 2nd book, Body Becoming: A Path To Our Liberation, and when I first encountered his writings, I knew I had found a conversation rather. Finally, we were in the same room together using the same language and rhetorical devices. It felt like a homecoming and a warm embrace. I can’t wait to share more with you about Báyò and what is emerging! More on that, soon!
Today’s Contemplative THREADS is about our vital becoming, which is collective. I wrote my PhD dissertation on the materiality of the body and how bodies are becoming and how all material things are endowed with a lively spirit. It was my step into panentheism more seriously and tracing how God is in creation and beyond creation. There is a radical immanence that demands a radical transcendence. We are in God and God is beyond us. Wow! What an amazing thing to be a part of God. Not the gods of this world, like consumerism, capitalism, militarism, and the like, but a kind of being a part of something other-worldly. Something that can generate a kind of holy otherness.
I also wanted to write to say thank you to the new subscribers! I try to write 3 times a week, provided my schedule allows. Mondays are always the Contemplative THREADS, which is for the community; so, consider upgrading to read the rest. Wednesday and the weekend are always free. If you can give up a latte each month, it would be great for you to become a paying subscriber to help support the work that I am doing in the world thru writing. Revolution comes in a multiplicity of ways!
Onward, —Dr. Roberto Che Espinoza.
