Dear Substtack Community: As you see, this email is coming to you on Wednesday, which is a normal day that I write, but I normally write the contemplative THREADS on Mondays. Mondays are my day off, now, and I’m endeavoring to take seriously the work life balance, since I’ve been hired at UUC! I am preaching each Sunday and when Monday rolls around, I need a break, so I’m trying to figure out how to write the posts that I feel called to write and stay in touch with all of you! There are many of you who subscribe to this Substack (over 20k), so I want to keep in touch and also take care of myself in the process.

Cease Fire

Today’s political roundup is calling for a cease fire. We have seen the destruction of Gaza and the surrounding areas. Now is the time for a cease fire. I don’t believe war is the answer. Violence begets more violence. In a time of the rise of global fascism, we need to stop the violence of war, now, and steward peace. We have to. We have to be counter hegemonic in all ways, and peace is counter hegemonic. There is no time to continue spreading violence and hate; we must spread Love and peace in everything we do.

I’d like to devote a full email to calling for a cease fire, but maybe what I need to do is to make small statements along the way, so that people will catch onto the sentiment of peace. We live in a violent culture; we need peace, now.

Onward, —Dr. Roberto Che Espinoza
